CULTIVATING COMMUNITY
THROUGH THE NATURAL WORLD

It can feel like a difficult time to be on planet earth and many of us are exploring ways we can support one another.

We, as humans, have a big opportunity and responsibility to care for the plants and animals on our land during these wild times because if not us, who will?

The Louisiana Wild Society is working to protect and regenerate our shared space through the use of plants that nourish our complex living systems and community while we celebrate a deeper relationship with the natural world.

Our mission is to create conversation, share in experiences, and take part in beautification projects that create rich habitats that provide for all living creatures now, and those who will come after us. Native plant diversity does the heavy lifting for us! Plant diversity is the foundation of the food chain. By keeping our plants alive, we keep our animal friends alive as well.

Restoring our Earth is Possible

Restoring our Earth is Possible

We encourage landscape stewardship and educate people on how to do that in their own environments and everyday lives.

Restoring our earth is possible.

It’s easy to feel disenchanted about the current state of our environment. It feels like change is impossible. But that just isn’t true! 60% of land in the USA is privately held. We have 40 million acres of lawn. If individuals just focus on their own little piece of earth, we can create massive change.  But first, we must get to know our own backyards (or porches!) where big change can take place in deep and meaningful ways.

Do you have a passion for people, plants, and the planet?

Let’s get growing together. We believe that by working together, the greater Baton Rouge area is becoming a thriving city where people are connected to the earth, each other, and the plants that surround us.

Knowing that you love the earth changes you, activates you to defend and protect and celebrate. But when you feel that the earth loves you in return, that feeling transforms the relationship from a one-way street into a sacred bond.
